I am currently building an Iain Oughtred designed plywood laptrake dinghy, "Acorn 8". (Plans from WB mag., materials from Noah's).
As I complete the planking and begin working on the outer stem, keel etc. I am giving thought to the finish I will use on the boat. My plan is to varnish the interior, transom and sheerstrake, and paint the outside of the hull white. My question is; what paints and method would you reccomend? Primer? Epoxy paint? (I'm new to this). The wood is okoume and I will not be sheathing it with epoxy.
Thank you for any help anyone can offer!

We carry Sikkens complete line of top quality Dutch made Yahtpaints. For the clear finish on bare plywood I would recommend at least 5 coats of Sikkens Clear Varnish UV. Thin the first coat about 20% with Sikkens AK Thinner. Sikkens Super Gloss will give you a durable high gloss white or color finish. Start with 2 coats of Universal Primer, the first thinned 20%, then 2 or 3 coats of Super Gloss. We can send you more detailed application information when you order. If you epoxy coat the boat the same varnish will work well, but Sikkens Polyester Yachtpaint, a moisture cure linear polyurethane will work better for your color finish.
