If I want to alter strip canoe plans to make the canoe deeper, do I:

a: distort the length of the forms, keeping the horizontal measurements the same

or

b: add an inch or two near the stem to make the form longer. In essence this would let me add a couple of extra strips at the gunwales without changing much about the form.

My money is on "B", but I've noticed that on the tumblehome design I have, the added strips will shrink the top of the canoe.

Thanks, Chuck

Would suggest talking to the designer of your canoe on that one.

make the forms longer/deeper an equal amount and you will increase the volume of your canoe. Remeber this will make it sit higher in the water and more prone to catching the wind. If you just lengthen the canoe that will also give it more volume, but harder to turn and solo.
