Has anyone made carbonfiber chain plates? If so what are the rules for laminating and how is the chain plate protected from chafe.

One way is to make a tire rim (best description I can think of). The center hole fits the clevis pin on your turnbuckle. Single strands of carbon, are laced over the rim and spread over the inside and outside of the hull. You can also use a shackle, with the pin replacing the clevis pin in your turnbuckle.
