OK now I am really confused...
I am restoring this 56 CC Cavalier and now after I have removed all the ply and replaced and or cleaned the rest (whats left)
I need to replace the sides.. after considering the options I still wonder about the grades and all the different kinds of marine plywood.
What is the best for finishing and workability?
And how difficult is it to cut a scarf joint in 3/8" ply that will be 20" wide?
Would a router with a 45 degree bevel be as good? or is there a need for the joint to be longer?

Dear Confused

Mahogany is the best for finishing. Okoume would look nicer if you are varnishing, but I assume you are painting so BS 6566 Meranti Mahogany is less expensive and would work fine.

Scarf joints should be at least 9:1 or 3 ?? in 3/8 ply. Easier way is to butt block between the frames if you have room.

Thanks,I dont plan on painting, so A/B Okoume is lighter and would look the best?
I have room between the frames for a butt block and the length of the side is 15' 1/2" so I'm guessing a butt joint would be best.
