Im redoing a 1972 chrysler satelite sport, and i pulled up the old floor. Some people that ive talked to said to use marine plywood, but most everybody recommended 1\2 inch plywood with fiberglass resin. What is resin, how do you put it on,and were do i get it.
thanks,

The main difference between plywood and marine plywood ( besides cost ) is glue and the number of voids that are allowed to be in the plywood. You will notice that normal plywood has lots of voids when you look at the plywood edge. Marine plywood does not have as many of these voids, so it is structurally stronger.
Any wood you add should be sealed with epoxy resin. It will not absorb water like polyester resins ( what almost all mass produced boats are made with ) and has excellent adhesion for secondary bonding ( ie - glueing onto other parts ).
There are differences between the different epoxy systems out there, but for small applications, any "system" will do. Just don't mix one systems resin with another systems hardner. West and System Three both have excellent brochures for advise on how to use the epoxy compounds. Follow their instructions religiously, and take their advise seriously about not getting the stuff on your skin.
