View Full Version : cracked top deck under safety rails

i have a problem on the top deck where the rail bolts down to the deck. It cracked all around the base. i need some ideas on how to go about fixing it. And how can i fix the tp deck were water has goton in it, it has a "thud" sound around the area. Thank you for your help.

Sounds like you have a case of the dreaded ?rotten core?. Best would be to grind out the cracked glass and replace the core with a solid filler or a piece of plywood. Then replace the fiberglass and gelcote. The easy way, but not as good is try to drain and dry the core, then pump epoxy in.

thank you for the help. I will know now what the problem is. what is a good epoxy do i use and what is the easiest way to did it. thank you for the help and you time.

If you are planning on injecting epoxy, Industrial Formulators Cold Cure works well on wet surfaces. Drill some ? ? holes in the top surface and use a hair dryer to try and dry the inside. When you think it is dry, use syringes to inject the epoxy, then fill the holes with thickened epoxy, and cover with gelcote.
