Staining marine plywood?

I am going to build my first boat this summer. Can I stain wood before appling epoxie?

You can stain under epoxy, but do not use oil based stains. Alcohol or water based stains are recommended. Noah?s carries Mohawk Ultra stains that work well.

There are also pigments that can be added to epoxy to create different shades.

Pigments work if you are trying to hide a repair, but will cloud the finish, stain will do a better job of highlighting the grain of the wood.
