Lapstrake construction

I am finishing a 15 food plywood lapstrake canoe and the plans call for a plywood floor. Any forseeable problems if I deviate from the
plans?

You can use dimensioned lumber for the floor so long as you leave enough space between the floorboards for expansion (and drainage). 1/2" thick should be fine or 3/8" if the floors are spaced closely together. Don't forget to leave yourself a small section without florboards so you can sponge out the bilge.
