Need help finding wood for Swamp Rat

I'm helping my daughter's boyfriend build a Swamp Rat boat. The designs came from JordanWoodBoats(.com).

We were able to get most of the wood (douglas fir) specified in the plans from a local lumber co. But there are two very long pieces of wood, which I'm hoping this forum could direct me to a source in Western NY. I don't know enough about boat building to know if it would be OK to use two shorter pieces spliced together. What the plans call for are:

    4 pieces: 3/4" x 1 1/2" x 16' Douglas Fir (chines and gunwales)
    3 pieces: 1 1/4" x 1" x 14' Oak (chine guards and keel strip)

Noah?s has clear straight grain Philippine (Meranti) Mahogany up to 20?. Long clear Fir is difficult to get and the Meranti works well as an alternative.

We usually have White Oak up to 16?, but check with our shop for availability on this one.
