    Question Transferring plans to plywood?

What is the best way to transfer the lines from a non-transparent set of plans onto marine plywood for cutting?

    Tracing...

I use carbon paper... place carbon paper on wood with plan on top and hold down with masking tape then trace lines with a sharpened dowel that has been sanded down like a dull pencil to suit. Anything can be used to trace as long as it is not too sharp to cut through the plan and/or carbon paper.
    Good luck, Joe

If photo copying is an option, then just glue the paper right the wood and cut.

For tracing, I once took some patterns and used a crayon with the label peeled off and layed flat to trace the outline. Just be sure to sand off any crayon after you cut out the panels or you'll be miserable trying to apply epoxy.

If you are not worried about cutting up the patterns, use a dressmakers (notched)wheel.
For long fair curves, lay the pattern on the plywood and punch through with an awl every few inches. Remove the pattern and drive finishing nails into the awl points, spring clamp a batten to the nails and draw the line.
