1st boat - help??

I want to build a small, easy to build, boat, just for my girlfriend and I to row on the farm pond/dam...

I dont have any experience and want to keep the costs as low as pissible...

Any recommendations on what boat?
And can I use external or mahogany ply instead of marine?

Any help will be appreciated

Check out www.bateau.com/categories.php?cat=28. They have a good selection of small boat plans for S & G construction and have boat plans up to 28'. The Flat Skiff 12 is an easy boat to build and recommended for first time builders. Buy your plans there and your materials at Noahs. I am building the Outboard Skiff 17. They also have a great forum, tutorials and how-to section.

Thumbs up 1st boat

Wooden Boat issue 109 did a nice job of showing you how to build the Ladybug by Harry Bryan. This is a cool little boat, even has a wheel built in so that you can wheelbarrow it around the farm.
